This robust, red brick renovation is the family home for a practicing artist, a builder and their three boys. The locally made, clay bricks are hard wearing and reference the verandah of the existing Californian bungalow. They divide, protect and contain a variety of programs and functions within the house and provide a vibrancy and warm backdrop to life within the home [1].

[2] The project borrows sky and landscape views from the adjacent park, accessed via a concealed gate, to extend the outdoor entertaining and kids play area

[3] The former driveway is converted into two studios, separated by a light filled courtyard. One of the studios has been designed as a painting studio for artist Hannah Fox and the other, a timber and mechanical workshop for her husband and children
